PROGRAMMES
CAMPS
Regional & National
Camps provide a safe place for young carers and their families to connect with others who understand, have the freedom to express themselves and embark on their holistic healing journey together.
Here at Camp Unity, we understand the importance of working with the whole family/whānau/aiga that includes parents, whāngai children, grandparents and others who may be instrumental in the lives of young carers.
YOUNG LEADERS
The Young Leaders project is built from personal experience and co-designed with Young Carers. It will run for six weeks with small groups of Young Carers aged 14-18 or 19-24.
The programme is designed to empower, develop resilience and provide Young Carers with the opportunity to grow their self-love and self-worth.
COMMUNITY ENGAGEMENT
Programme is in development
Camp Unity has a number of outreach programmes to engage with secondary schools, iwi/hapū and pacific island communities and healthcare providers.
This engagement approach will help Camp Unity foster strong relationships with the community, identify young carers and their families, raise awareness of the impact on young carers, and establish a support system for young carers..
TUTORING/MENTORING
Programme in development
We understand how hard it can be to keep up with your schoolwork, training and career pathways when you're busy caring for your family. So we have developed a tutoring and mentoring programme to help you with your education and plan for your future.
SAFE HAVEN
Respite
Do you need a break or would like to have fun with other young carers like yourself?
Our respite programme gives Young Carers the opportunity to have fun, maintain connections with other Young Carers, and give them some time out from their caring role. The wonderful big brothers of Camp Unity will take them on outings, movies, workshops in a range of different locations.
